BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA:
NORTH DELTA COLTS 48, Westside Warriors 0
CALIFORNIA:
CASTAIC COUGARS 22, Pasadena 0 - Coach John Torres: "My switch of QBs immediately gave the offense a much needed shot in the arm. He led the A and C backs out of the backfield and made some great blocks."
COLORADO:
PARKER HAWKS 38, Castle Rock Dolphins 7 - Coach Scott Barnes: "My guy fumbles the kick off and recovers on our 2. Our first play from scrimmage is 88 SP and goes the distance for a TD - Wedge in for a 2 pt conversion. Our next play from scrimmage is 99 SP and we go the distance on that one!! Wedge in for 2. Amazing what game film study will do!! We worked hard on Criss Cross 47 this week and ran it 3 times for 2 TD's. Kept the ball 54 plays out of 88 this week and didn't show them much other than 88/99/6G.
ILLINOIS:
DEERFIELD YOUNG WARRIORS 28, Niles North Vikings 6. Coach Keith Babb: "We dominated an out-manned Niles North squad scoring 3 TD's in the first half and not giving up a first down on defense. Our first touchdown came during a sustained scoring drive which featured a new play we put in this week - 56 C shuffle pass. The 2nd TD came on a beautiful 1 trap @ 2 where our B back burst untouched 45 yards to the end zone. Our second team scored the 3rd touchdown, driving the ball on 88's and 99's and scoring on the wedge. We scored our last TD returning the 2nd half kickoff. We got lots of playing time for our 2nd and 3rd teamers."
HANOVER PARK HURRICANES 27, Wheaton 14. Coach Bill Lawlor: "Another one of those towns that have over 100 kids to choose from for a travelling eighth grade squad. A back Leon Wiggins had over 225 yards rushing, mostly on 88SP, 56-C and the sprint sweep from Spread. He also had over 65 yards on 4 carries running the 38 G-O Reach on first sound. We are having so much more success with that play this year on first sound with no motion. We also scored on a fifty yard naked boot 38 G-O keep left. Our QB Franco Shenault could have ran in backwards as they are beginning to key on Leon by shadowing him with TWO men...leaving backside very open. Just thought I would keep you up to date for what its worth. What makes me the most proud about this offense was when we moved 98 yards from our 2 and ate up 9:38 of the second quarter on 21 plays from scrimmage. No passes and we kept the ball out of their hands when they had the wind at their back. That is more enjoyable then any big pass play."
MASSACHUSETTS:
ATTLEBORO 22, Taunton 0 - Attleboro now 3-0, as six different backs rush for over 300 yards.
NEW HAMPSHIRE:
MANCHESTER BEARS 42, Exeter 0 - Six different backs rush for 330 yards.
NEW JERSEY:
CAPE MAY RAIDERS 24, Ocean City 0 - Coach Frank Simonsen: "We scored the 3rd TD. at the 2 min. warring of the first half. Everyone is so determined to stop 88 & 99 that they are giving us the Opts. and Sprint Out. They still think that's the whole "O". they just can't believe it's a system."
UTAH:
TAYLORSVILLE 50 - Kearns 14
VIRGINIA:
CRAIG COUNTY COUGARS 20, Pembroke Spartans 6. Three scores came on 88 Super Power and 47-C (Twice).
WASHINGTON:
SHORELINE BULLDOGS 19, Lake City Braves 12 - Braves came into the game unbeaten and unscored on through two games while scoring 70 points themselves . Coach Glade Hall: "I took your advice and kept whacking away with the Powers until it just wore their corners down . We slowed the game down as much as possible ( I only got a warning ) keeping their offense off the field . The Bulldogs are now 3-0 after passing a very big test ."
