CASTAIC COUGARS 34, Burbank Vikings 0 - Cougars, now 3-1, rush for 338 yards in 103-degree heat. Six backs share the ball-carrying, with B-Back Paul Rosales leading the way with 78 yards.
CYPRESS CHARGERS 25, Monterey Park Aztecs 6 - Coach Chris Thomas: 4 different players scored, We ran over 35 plays. QB went 5 for 7 Passing for 120 Yds, A,B,C backs rushed for a combined total of 175 Yds. Ran 1/2 of the plays from Over I or Under I formation. Ran Tight 2 wedge 3 times for 5+ each time. After the game the opposing coach said he'd scouted and prepared for just the tight formation, we installed the Over I/Under I in just 3 Practices. They started with a 7 man front to defend our run, so we ran an Over I 3 base then the second play we ran Over I Thunder with C back on a Flat and he ran for 45 yds and scored..On the second play of the game!! This proves how deadly the system is to a defense...It is because of the simplicity of the system we were able to give the opposing team a different look...They prepped for one thing, we showed them another and beat them on it...The kids asked me to thank you!!!
COLORADO:
PARKER HAWKS 25, Aurora Spartans 20 - Coach Scott Barnes: "What's the best defense against a team that averages 44.3 pts a game, has won the super bowl the last two years and has not been beat in 2 1/2 years as a team??? Answer - the best defense is the DOUBLE WING OFFENSE!!!! We totally controlled the ball by running 51 offensive plays to their 37. Coach, they just could not stop 88 Super Power - I want to create you a tape of this game just so you can see my little guys run that play! I just kept riding that horse all day, and every once in a while we hit them hard on Criss Cross 47 and 38 GO (they kept stacking the inside trying to stop our Super Power!) - and I can't forget the wedge that is like the energizer bunny - keeps going, and going... it was a beautiful thing to watch ...This puts us in 1st place with 3 games remaining in the regular season. "
ILLINOIS:
HANOVER PARK 33 Glendale Heights 0. - Coach Bill Lawlor: "We put in a 10 play Stack I package this weekend and used it exclusively to beat the defending Illinois Bill George League Super Bowl team from last year! Leon Wiggins, Ben Urbaniak and Bryan Mead all run for touchdowns and big yards out of the Stack. We also threw some Waggle passes out of the stack as well as a right end 47-C. Glendale wanted nothing to do with us by halftime as we were up 33-0. In case any other youth coaches are wondering how easy the switch was....In two 1.5 hour practices we installed, repped and ran 88 Super Power, 99 Super Power, 2 wedge, 22 Wedge, 6-G, 7-G, 3 trap at 2, option right and left, Waggle pass, and flood pass...With a bye next week we are now at 7-0. In two weeks we will play Wheaton White for the first seed in the playoffs. What's next after the stack? The kids want to run the 5-1! We will see."
NEW HAMPSHIRE
MANCHESTER BEARS 28, Londonderry 0 - Coach John Trisciani: "This week we played our first rain game and still rushed for 260 yards including 19 carries for 200 yards in the first half.We continue to have an exchange problem but it's my job to coach them up and I will using your techniques. This week we will put in 77 special power and 4&5X.We are averaging 36 points and over 300 yards rushing with 3 shutouts to open the season at 4-0.The Wedge is my favorite and has not been stopped yet.In two of our games we have had to hold the score down and the Wedge has helped while still giving our boys an opportunity to work on it. Tonight at films we could hear the opposing coaches hollering ''LOOK OUT FOR THE BULLDOZER''.The staff is sold on this offense and coaching with great enthusiasm and our players realize we have something special.I am a Hugh Wyatt DW disciple. Thanks again coach."
NEW JERSEY
CAPE MAY RAIDERS 32, Wildwood 6 - Coach Frank Simonsen: "We only ran about 8 plays with the 1st. "O". our 2nd. team (Blue) played almost 3/4s and gave up 1 TD and scored on a 56-C. We ran the 7-C counter once for 1 TD. That is now my favorite play when they start moving out to stop the powers and 47-C."
VIRGINIA:
CRAIG COUNTY COUGARS 18, Narrows Gold 8 - Cougars defeat two-time defending champions. Coach Jim Fisher: "It was pouirin dow rain all evening...The game was 12-8 with 3 minutes to go. They fumbled and then we scored on a 99 SP. Our A-Back, Richard Jones, had 76 yards rushing, Our C-Back, Casey Garman, had 181 yards and three TD's. The score didn't reflect it, but Coach, we manhandled them."
WASHINGTON:
SHORELINE BULLDOGS 20, Richmond Knights 0 - Coach Glade Hall: "We had 209 yards rushing in the first half and scored 20 points.
