Q.
Do you have an
agenda of topics to be covered? A.
No. Groups of coaches, I've found, can vary greatly from week to week
and place to place, and so can what they want me to cover, and so I
need to be flexible enough able to respond to the needs and wishes of
each particular group of coaches.So
I don't work with a formal agenda. To me, that would be a commitment to
cover everything on the agenda, and I don't want to be in a position
where I don't keep a promise. I work off a long list of things that I
am prepared to cover, but there simply isn't time in a one-day clinic
to cover them all.If I were to
try to work off a rigid agenda, I might disappoint some coaches by
leaving a topic too soon, or by staying on one topic so long I failed
to get to the items on the agenda that they wanted me to cover
For sure, there will be
a
good deal
of time spent on my Wildcat,
which I first ran - and named - in 1997, long before the Dolphins ever
dreamed of such a thing.
Q.
Is one of your
clinics the best way to learn the
Double-Wing?
A. Truthfully, a
clinic
is not
the best way to learn my system from scratch. You will get the most
benefit from one of my clinics if have some exposure to my system, or
at least to some form of Double-Wing. I strongly recommend that before
attending you become familiar with my "Dynamics of the Double
Wing."
Q. I have
coached for
6
years in the 10-13 year age range and tinkered with the double wing in
the past. I was hoping to really use it this year and wanted to
know if your clinic is focused on coaches new to this offense.
Also, which tapes would you recommend" Thanks for your help.
A. Good question.
It's
fair to say that the clinics, although aimed primarily at people who
already run my offense, are very useful to people who are considering
running it and have some understanding of it - terminology, etc. To get
to that point, you really should be familiar with my 'Dynamics of the Double
Wing" - video and playbook "Installing
the System" would also be very helpful, and "A Fine Line" would be
a big help, too. So would "Troubleshooting."
If you come in
with
that
knowledge, things will not go over your head. You'll able to understand
and profit from what you see and hear, and to talk "Wyatt-Wing" with
other coaches at the clinic.
Q. Is there an
overall
theme?
A. Yes. My aim has
always
been
to send people away with a better understanding of how to be a more
effective Double Wing coach, and with a whole lot of things to think
about. I think that most people who have attended one of my clinics
will tell you that I have succeeded in doing that.
The overall theme
is the
two
major characteristics of my system - simplicity and breadth.
I believe that's what makes it unique. Thanks to its simplicity, we're
able to teach it relatively quickly, and then to concentrate on running
a certain basic core of plays very well. But thanks to its breadth -
its versatility and flexibility - we are able to become truly multiple
by expanding that basic core and its offshoots in a wide variety of
formations - including the Wildcat-
Q. I'd like to
attend
more
than one clinic!
A. Great. Our
policy is - IF
YOU PAY FOR ONE CLINIC, YOU CAN ATTEND AS MANY OTHERS AS YOU WISH - AT
NO CHARGE . Every year there are coaches who attend more than
one clinic and as a result, I now offer - space permitting - free
admission to a second (or third! or fourth) clinic to any coach who has
paid to attend an earlier clinic this year.
Q. What is your
policy
on
refunds?
A. We cannot make
refunds
less
than ONE WEEK before a clinic. The pre-registration discount is offered
in return for a firm commitment from you so that we can make our plans
accordingly. If, however, you find yourself unable to attend a clinic
you've pre-registered for, you may apply the registration fee to
another clinic.
Q. Do you offer
a
staff
discount?A.
Yes. Provided that payment is made in advance - and with the same
PayPal or purchase order or check - if you pay for four coaches the
fifth coach from your staff attends free.
Q. What if we
pay for
a
certain number of coaches and one of them can't make it?
A. We don't offer
refunds, but
we will work to give you a credit toward purchase of videos.
