DALEVILLE, AL - DALEVILLE 14, Rehobeth 7

PHOENIX, AZ - LA JOYA 12, Dysart 6 (La Joya is a brand-new school, with freshmen only) The La Joya Fighting Lobos notched the first win in school history last night with a 12-6 win over the Dysart Demons. We returned the opening kickoff to the 50 yard line, ran a 2 wedge (that the offensive lineman had requested for the first play), a 7g, an 88 super power and then Blue Blue for a 35 yard touchdown strike with less than 2 minutes gone in the game. We scored on our next possession after a defensive stand gave us the ball on our own 2 and we put together a 13 play drive capped by a 25 yard 99 power keep for a touchdown. We had another goalline stop with 4 plays from inside our 10 to end the half. We have 57 players on our team and all of them saw extensive playing time throughout the game. As with most programs, there is a considerable drop off once the starters leave the game, but that's o.k. - we want all kids who have worked hard in practice and met our expectations to enjoy the thrill of playing. The combination of everyone playing with Dysart's half time "adjustment" of telling their D-Lineman to dive and grab our pulling lineman's feet slowed our offensive production considerably in the second half. I took 2 timeouts to talk with the referee's and explain defensive holding to them, but we didn't get any calls. The score was much closer than the game was. The kids were thrilled to get the first victory in school history. Season record 1-0-1 - MIke Waters

YUMA, AZ - SCORPIONS 6, Sidewinders 0 - We finally opened our season against one of the best defensive teams we play each year and they kept our defense on the field most of the day but, we finally broke a 56cc and got the score. "Stew" Stewart

APPLE VALLEY, CA - APPLE VALLEY PANTHERS 6, Victorville 0.

DANA POINT, CA - SOUTH ORANGE COUNTY PATRIOTS 14, Carson Colts 0 - Hey Coach, We beat the only team that scored any points against us last year, the Carson Colts, last year's superbowl champs. We had two scoring drives in the 1st half of 15+ plays. They ran a 6-2 and the 3T@4, wedge and the 29/38 GO reaches worked great. We threw one pass. It was an awesome 30 yard 6G Pass and they were completely shocked. I didn't want to throw too much, our next opponent, Compton was scouting us.

DENVER, CO - EAGLES 47, Littleton Panthers 6 - Eagles even their AYL record at 1-1. Relentless blocking by Watkins, Sturm, Slack, Keller, Timbers, Caro, Vaughn-Warren, Moore, Zaterman and Adams paved the way for 6 TDs. Speedy wingbacks Vaughn, Robinson, and Woodward amassed 24 points on 47-C and 29 GO. Power backs Slattery, Knudson, and Hooper punished the Panther front-six with Super Power and Wedge. QB/FS Kroll was a one-man Air Force with sharp passing and an INT. DB/LBs Kirklin, Bartholomew, Maen, and Brennenstuhl helped turn out the lights on the Panther offense.

KERSEY, CO - PLATTE VALLEY M.S. 12, North Valley 0 - The Colts got win number two scoring with a 2 wedge and 88 super power. Before the game I gathered the team and spoke to them about a childhood hero of mine. I told them about one of the greatest football players ever to play the game and about how he played for the love of the game not for money or fame. He was an original Colt, a Baltimore Colt named Johnny Unitas. I asked them to dedicate the game to him and honor his passing with the same spirit of play he always showed. When the dust settled we had gained 175 yards to their 6 yards. I could not of been prouder of the effort given for "Johnny U". A sad day indeed, another great one gone from an era of America we may never see again. John Dillon

GUILFORD, CT - GUILFORD JUNIOR WHITE 34, Clinton 6 - Hello Coach, Guilford Junior White improves to 4-0 with a convincing victory over Clinton, 34-6. Over 300 yards total offense, 3 TDs by our B back in the first half. Super powers, 6g and 47c all working well. Reserves played well in the second half. A great group of boys that really play as a team. No heroes out here. Roy Lamberton

PLANTATION, FL - PLANTATION WILDCATS 41, Pembroke Pines 12 (7&8 yrs old) We were up 34 - 0 in the second quarter and I had to bench my starters. In our league, if you are ahead by more than 42 at any time in the game, you forfeit the game and the head coach is suspended for the next game. We scored on 88; Liz 2; QB bootleg. Mike Kahn

UMATILLA, FL - UMATILLA 60, Ocala West Port 27 - Hugh, Doc (Black LIon Tom Hinger) was up last night with his wife Jane and they saw quite an offensive explosion. It was the most productive night I have ever had in this offense. We ran 64 times for 486 yards. Passed twice for 5 yards. We had seven offensive possessions and scored on all of them and scored on all but two of our two point conversions. We also had one fumble recovery run back for a TD by the defense and converted that 2Pt PAT also. They only had 15 offensive plays, but it was the best passing attack I have ever played against. Head coach was Duante Culpepper's QB coach in High School and he sure knows the passing game. In the second half one of my safeties had two interceptions and a fumble recovery for the defensive TD. My B-back had 155 yards, A-back 115 yards, and my two C-backs 114 between them. My QB had 63 yards, and ran 57 yards on a 6-G-option. I was exhausted after the game, but what an offensive show. It gets tougher next week with defending six time District champion, currrently ranked #2 in Class 2A. Talk more later. Ron Timson

ROCKDALE, GA - ROCKDALE BULLDOGS 135# 35, McDonough 0 - Hugh, Making the most out of what we have!!! We pushed to a 3-1 record. Everything worked, but it was great execution that prevailed. Our opponents had good film on us and tried to stop us with the tight 6-2 Cover-3. NOT!! We just worked our rules and when they over-compensated trying to stop the power, the "G", the "Trap" and the "Counter" killed them. We are very small, under aged and non-athletic like I told you earlier, but the kids are really having fun and gaining the confidence that they can play with bigger, and much stronger-faster opponents. Before the season, I was hoping we could eeeeck one out for the kids sake just to avoid an "O-fer" year but the kids are growing together quite nicely as a team. PS... We broke a 55 yd. Wedge. Hope you come south again with your clinic, Would love to see you again. Larry Harrison Snellville, GA

WRENS, GA - WRENS M.S. 38 Hancock Co. 12

ALTA, IA - ALTA 24, Boyer Valley 13 - Alta, Iowa is now 2-0. They were a very good test for the young season. BIG KIDS! We lost a two-way starter to eligibility the morning of the game. Replacements came in and did a nice job. We had two turnovers and a penalty that cost us scores. Lots of areas still need our attention. Our rushing totals were: A-Backs: 23 rushes for 165 yds & 2 TD's; B-Backs: 6 rushes for 40 yds; C-Backs: 12 rushes for 50 yds; QB: 8 rushes for 61 yds & 1 TD; 3-5 for 43 yds passing. Team Totals: 49 rushes for 316 yds and 3-5 for 43 yds passing. Next up: Perennial playoff participant and defending district champion...West Lyon. Scott Lovell

HOLSTEIN, IA - GALVA-HOLSTEIN 46, Lawton-Bronson 0 - 50 carries for 459 yards. A Back (starter) 9 carries 115 yards 2TD's B Back (starter) 5 carries 36 yards 2 TD's (wedge) C Back (starter) 11 carries 151 yards 1 TD QB (starter) 2 carries 14 yards 1 TD Other A Backs 7 carries 28 yards Other B Backs 6 carries for 22 yards 1 TD (wedge) Other C Backs 10 carries for 95 yards They played a communist 5-6 against us and we handled them anyway. - 88/99 SP All night long (Could have only called it and won, but needed work on other stuff a little too) Trap (about 7 times total) 6-G (once) 88 SUper Keep (once for a 14 yd TD) Wedge (5 times, 3 TD's and 2 8 yard gains on first down) Red Red/Blue Blue (called 2 times just missed on both) 47-C (called it once) 99 Super Reach (twice) CC 56-C (once) Brad Knight

ALTON, IL - ALTON 14, East St. Louis 12 - Coach Wyatt - The Alton Redbirds beat the Heavily favored East St. Louis Flyers on Friday night 14-12. It was one heck of a football game. We scored on a play where we send our D-1 prospect, A back, in rocket motion outside the formation and sent him up the field with only him in the route. They did not adjust to motion. The second score was on rip-stop 77 special power for 73 yards. In "Big-School" football, the Alton Redbirds have scored 128 points and over 900 yards rushing in the first three games running the Double Wing. (more fuel for the argument) Coach Brad Hasquin

COLFAX, IL - RIDGEVIEW 48, Fieldcreast 0 - 301 yards rushing. Our QB was 7-7 for 137 yards and two TD's. They played a 7-4? defense against us. We had a 42-0 lead at halftime. We are now 3-0. Mike Benton

OLYMPIA FIELDS, IL - RICH CENTRAL 35, Tinley Park 20 - Olympians, down 14-13 at the half, score three times in second half to win. Six different RC rushers carried, gaining 316 yards on 51 carries. Breakdown: A Back 8-68-2 TD's; B Back 19-88-1 TD; C Backs 20-153-2 TD's. "Give Rich Central credit, they run the ball well," Tinley Park coach Bill Rush told the local newspaper. "They block so well, they just beat us up."

HANOVER PARK, IL - HANOVER PARK 80 # GOLD HURRICANES 27, South Elgin 6 - The 80lb. Gold Hurricanes ran their record to 4-0 with a 27-6 victory at South Elgin on Sunday. Javaun McDonald scampered 45 yards for the first TD on Spread Lazer 29 Reach. Aaron Thabuteau scored on 88 SP to cap off an 86 yard second quarter drive. Gerard Toney ran back the third quarter kick 68 yards to bring the score to 20-0. C-Back Andrew Homere then went to work with a 40 yard Rip 47-C touchdown to put the game out of reach. The offensive line was the real studs today, pounding the ball and controlling the line of scrimmage. Kevin Hilliard was 3-3 at QB, hitting Jon David Walker, Andrew Homere and Javaun McDonald for nice gains. Next week - a showdown with 4-0 Buffalo Grove. We are anxious for the test. Bill Lawlor

BALTIMORE, MD - ARCHBISHOP CURLEY 42, Cardinal Gibbons 0

MILLERSVILLE, MD - MILLERSVILLE WOLVERINES 13, Southern Bulldogs 0 - We were sluggish out of the box this game. We had 4 turnovers - we actually put the ball on the ground 6 times. We scored on the opening possession on a 23 yard 5-X. We later scored in the fourth on a 56-C 11 yards out. We had trouble defending the blitz, which we will correct this week at practice. Jason Clarke

BOOTHBAY HARBOR, ME - BOOTHBAY REGIONAL 35, Livermore Falls 0

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI - NFWB VARSITY VIKINGS 33 , Clawson Mavericks 0. Vikings now 3-0. Well, we not only scored another TD on the first play (3rd week in a row) of the game but, we scored a TD on the first 2 plays of the game! Our kids really came out and played the way we knew they could. This group of kids are really something special. Not only are they big, strong and fast, these kids got alot of heart and a real desire to WIN. Not a single kid on the team takes a play off. The game was officially over (32-0) with 3:31 left in the 1st half and we still had 298 yards on 16 attempts (18.6 yds/play). We are not allowed to run our offense after the game is official. The Mavericks decided that they were going to stop our 88 SP and they did a pretty good job but, they forgot about the 99 SP and 3 trap 2. The only other plays we ran in the game were Gs and the wedge. Out defense turned in another stellar performance allowing only 11 yards total offense. Just as we thought, the Mavericks did try to pass but our kids were ready this week and had the receivers all covered up allowing our D line to rush the QB to force an incomplete pass and an INT as well as a sack. We are very excited about this team but, we have perennial powerhouse and last year's Superbowl Champs, the Troy Cowboys, another DW team, next Sunday. It should be a great game as Bill Livingstone will have his kids ready to play as usual. Donnie Hayes

TROY, MI - TROY COWBOYS 38, HAZEL PARK RAIDERS 6. In very limited duty, our offense rushed for 131 yards on 9 carries for a 14.6 average before the mercy rule kicked in. Our defense and special teams ruined the day for the O by scoring or setting up easy and short scores. Thus far (3-0) we have rushed for almost 600 yards, and 2 of those games our O has missed almost half the game due to the mercy rule. This week we have the undefeated and unscored upon North Farmington/West Bloomfield Donnie Hayes led Vikings, who are also the other double wing team in our league. We scouted them and it took them roughly the first quarter to mercy a very well coached Clawson Maverick Team so we know we have our work cut out for us. David Livingstone

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - BENILDE-ST. MARGARET'S 49, Mound Westonka 0 - The BSM Red Knights' double wing offense was in high gear Friday night, and the defense was stifling as the Red Knights improved to 2-1 with a crushing 49-0 win over Mound Westonka HS. The offense cranked out 465 yards rushing and 24 first downs with nine different Red Knights carrying the ball. "A" back Ryan Hibbard racked up 118 yards on 12 carries and 2 TD's while the remainder of the yardage and scoring was divided up between 9 other backs. The defense gave up only 9 yards on the ground and 48 passing. Joe Gutilla

SCOTTSBLUFF, NE - SCOTTSBLUFF 42, TORRINGTON, WY 25

LEBANON, NH - LEBANON 10, Bishop Brady 7 - We thought we might be able to establish 3 trap at 2 . We were right. we got the trap going then they adjusted moving the tackle out to DE, this opened up super power, they never could adjust. our [c] ran for 75 yrds on 12 carries , the [a] runs for 50 , and the[b] 23 for 115, we started to get leakage ,we were able to stop it with super O . Our last drive was 12 plays we kick a field goal with 3 ticks after using up 5:38 . 10-7 LEBANON. Sat. paper reads "Lebanon upsets Brady." Carl Melendy

LANSINGBURGH, NY - LANSINGBURGH 62, Hudson 18 - B-Back Shonte Freeman carried 16 times for 155 yards and three touchdowns and teammate Marcel Youngs rushed 10 times for 46 yards and two more to lead Lansingburgh to its third straight win. QB Zac Bashford threw was 3 of 3 passing for 69 yards two touchdowns. Bashford connected on touchdowns passes to Kareem Jones and Young. Jones also added a rushing touchdown. blue blue and red red were there all night. 6g-7g was there, too as was 3trap at 4. Lansingburgh now 2-0. Pete Porcelli

MANHASSET, NY - MANHASSET 45, Valley Stream North 6- We rolled up 363 yards on the ground and completed one of two passes for 12 yards and a first down. We scored on our first five possesions with four backs running for tds. We used 88P 99P 47C and 2W. The best part was a "fan" told me the week before our offense looked like a three turn over per game offense!-He was speechless after the game!!!! Bill Cherry

QUEENSBURY, NY - QUEENSBURY 42, Ballston Spa 14. 401 yards of "O" on a steady diet of superpower "O" and criss-cross. Queensbury now 2-0. John Irion

WARE SHOALS, SC - WARE SHOALS 63, Thornwell 0

DANBURY, TX - DANBURY 34, Bloomington 6. We rushed for 389 yards. C-back Nicoli Aguinaga ran for 243 yards on 15 carries and scored two TDs. A-back Chris Sodek rushed for 54 yds and two TDs on only 4 carries and had THREE interceptions at corner. Still zero passing yards (o for 2 in this game). Oh well. Our defense played well again, holding them to only 52 yds rushing, 127 overall. Don Davis

ROCKWALL, TX - ROCKWALL WILDCATS 26, Redskins 6 - (8 yr-olds) We scored 1st on a 65 yd Wedge -- called it on 1st and 10, the B Back broke thru and ran to daylight. We scored next on a 88KEEP, then again on a 38 G-O. Final score came on a Wedge KEEP. I don't know if I told you about my QB or not -- fastest kid I've seen, and pretty smart. I've never called many QB keeps with this offense, but I've just got to get this kid carrying the ball -- and it paid off. A side effect is that the Defense has GOT to respect the fact that he can run. Scott Barnes

SAN ANTONIO, TX - HOLY FAMILY EAGLES 26, Wolverines 6.

NORFOLK, VA - EOV ACES 22, Crossroads Cobras 20 (OT). We scored on a 65 yd 88power and an 85 yd 56 counter. We moved the ball at will. We only lost yardage once on a fumbled pitch. Two fumbles on the 88SP and a 2 wedge on the 2 yard line late in the fourth. In the OT, we scored on a 2wedge QB keep and 2pt conversion on the 88power. Defense was sporadic, but was solid, The opposition worked on a short field. Other than that, boys played 100% better than I thought. Going for Win number 2 next week. Terrance Vanderhall

ROANOKE, VA - CAVE SPRING STAMPEDE 32, Hidden Valley Titans 8

VIENNA, VA - JAMES MADISON 48, Falls Church 9 - Madison ran for 346 yards in the first half . We stayed with trap and super power and scored twice on 58 Black Throwback. Have a great week!! Gordon Leib.

EDMONDS, WA- EDMONDS CYCLONES JUNIORS 32 - Mountake Terrace Trojans 12. I've got a good mix of returnees and new kids that have accepted the offense well. We ran mostly 88 & 99 Power with 6 & 7G as our base plays. We also ran the powers out of Stack which I found to work real well. Each year I work on a little more detail with the kids and it's starting to pay off. I picked up a real good coach who loves what we're doing and has taken the line under his wing. He's got these 5th and 6th graders pulling, trapping and understanding what it takes. We're 1-0. Glade Hall

BIRCHWOOD-WEYERHAUESER, WI - B-W 38, Siren 8

BLOOMER, WI - BLOOMER 14, Cumbeerland 6

CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI - CHIPPEWA FALLS 20, Hudson 6
